Ten companies in Sierra Leone, West Africa have received business marketing plans and consulting services from VR&C Marketing funded by Cordaid.
Cordaid supports entrepreneurs in challenging contexts to build solid businesses through a three-pronged approach; resilience business development services, peer-to-peer learning, and access to finance. “The Resilience Business Development Services comprises of; Business Management training, One-on-One’ coaching, specialized technical’ services, and Doing Business Better Seminars. ”
A Cohort of the RBDS program in Sierra Leone comprised of 16 Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) drawn from different sectors and industries, and selected from the three business hubs; Freetown, Bo and Makeni.
VR&C Marketing won a competitive bid to provide marketing support to 10 of the 16 SMEs in the Cordaid Cohort. The SMEs were involved in a variety of sectors including; poultry farming, bakery, fashion tailoring, metal works, artisanal weaving, tile manufacturing, event planning, and HR.
The SMEs required robust strategies to make them competitive and to increase their market shares. Our agency worked in partnership with Cordaid and the SME Owners to improve each owner’s marketing capacity. The project’s implementation was broken down into three phases: initiation (market research), implementation (marketing plan draft), and capacity building.
It took a total of 5 months to complete market research, draft the plans, and help all 10 SME clients improve their marketing knowledge. The project has successfully closed with the delivery of all 10 plans to clients from the North, West, East, and South of Sierra Leone.
Each client has signed off to confirm receipt of their plan whilst Cordaid has indicated that the plans meet the scope of consultancy.
