The AUS High Commission in Ghana and Sierra Leone marked National Reconciliation Week with a fashion show for indigenous fashion designers from Sierra Leone, and Australia.
The High Commission partnered with VRC Marketing to plan and manage a cocktail and indigenous fashion show in Sierra Leone. The VRC Marketing Accra Office worked with our staff in Sierra Leone to ensure that the event met the AUS High Commission’s brief.
We selected Sierra Leonean designers Amizo Bah (Maryzo Designs) and Juliana Songu (Miimanu Couture) to showcase alongside Australian fashion brands Arkie and Magpie Goose. The fashion show and cocktail were held at the Radisson Blu Mammy Yoko Hotel. Mrs. Melford Marah was the Mistress of Ceremony and FB Customized the event’s stylist.
In partnership with the Board of Fashion Ghana and Vickie Remoe and Company, the High Commission will be presenting a range of unique Australian, Ghanaian and Sierra Leonean textiles and designs at fashion shows in Accra and Freetown. The fabrics and designs express the creative wealth, versatility and beauty of Indigenous cultures of Australia, Ghana and Sierra Leone and tell the stories of the designers’ people.
The Australian High Commission welcomes you to the two very special shows detailed below, and we thank Emirates Airlines and La Villa Boutique Ghana for their support for these events.
Agency Tidbits
In the past year VRC Marketing has planned 6 events in Freetown. This was our first fashion show in Sierra Leone. This was an invite-only event. No advertising was done to promote the event although a Facebook event page was set up by the Australian High Commission. A Whatsapp group was a very useful planning and team communication tool once we had everything place.
Agency History
The first fashion showcase we ever planned was in Ghana in 2013 at the Movenpick Hotel for Printex & Baileys.
