Building the Sierra Leone Diaspora Investment Conference

How VR&C has co-produced and marketed four editions since 2023, in Maryland and London, and is bringing the fifth home to Freetown.

Sierra Leoneans abroad want to invest at home, but they need trusted information, real opportunities and the right people in the room. With Make Sierra Leone Famous, VR&C built a conference series to provide all three, and runs its communications year round.

The challenge

Create a recurring platform with credibility among investors, government and the diaspora, and fill rooms on two continents on a lean budget.

What we did

  • Positioning and brand for the conference and Sierra Leone Diaspora Week, “Where Business Meets Culture”
  • Public relations: press releases and media outreach for each edition
  • Digital content and social media for speakers, tickets, the Diaspora Excellence Awards and Diaspora Wars
  • Stakeholder and sponsor engagement with government, investors and partners
  • Reporting: a published report for every edition, all on makesierraleonefamous.com
