The challenge

CWGC wanted Sierra Leoneans to know its work and the story behind the memorial. Our audience research found a bigger gap: few people, especially young Sierra Leoneans, knew the country’s role in the World Wars or the Sierra Leone Carrier Corps.

What we did

  • Long-form features built on interviews with the people behind the memorial, including poet Nii Ayikwei Parkes and architect Tosin Oshinowo
  • A communications calendar, project plan and social media copy for the rollout
  • Remembrance Day 2025 coverage on the ground: feature article, photography, a video reel and social media assets
  • Media placements with AYTV, The African Dream SL, Gleaner, SwitSalone and Home Times
  • An education-first content series on Sierra Leone’s role in World War I and the Carrier Corps
  • A shortlist of Sierra Leonean ambassadors to champion CWGC’s work locally
